Heinrich is a strong and durable defender that bull rushes opponents, forcing turnovers in the process. He makes his presence known on the ice as playing physical is his forte. Is not that big for a defenseman, 5’11, 187-pounds, but what he lacks in height he makes up for in strength.

Heinrich has great mobility and does an exceptional job at reading the play in front of him. Never gives the impression that he is guessing on a play as he has a natural instinct to be in the right place at the right time. He’s a good coverage defender as he gives very little space to opposing forwards. Has a similar playing style as Dennis Seidenberg of the Boston Bruins.
