At this point of his development Keegan Iverson projects to be a 2014 NHL Draft pick, but expectations have cooled a bit on the former Breck Mustang. The physically mature Iverson has a plethora of skills, making him a likable prospect and at 6’2, 210 Iverson already has the size that scouts covet.
Iverson has good hands and has shown the ability to maneuver the puck in traffic. Iverson is willing and almost appears to enjoy the physical part of the game as he’s not afraid to mix it up and is an intimidating presence on the ice. In many viewings, opposing players seemingly get flustered and rushed when Iverson is barreling down on them. Iverson has been inclined to drop the gloves and standout for himself and teammates.
Iverson has cannon of a shot and quick release. His shot accuracy is a bit inconsistent but is far from a major flaw. Iverson positions himself and uses his body well in front of the net, giving him an open lane to receive passes from teammates. Iverson’s skating is adequate but is not as strong as other top prospects in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Iverson lacks top-end scoring touch but will be a nice addition to an NHL franchise looking for raw power, physical aptitude, and skill.
