Gersich is a tremendous skater as his stride is very smooth with good knee bend and full extension. Has good balance thanks a wide base. Is very difficult to move off the puck as he demonstrates good strength and uses superior positioning when protecting the puck. Is very agile, allowing him to make instant cuts and change direction in a hurry. Explodes to the net in an aggressive manner making him very dangerous in the offensive zone.

Size is not prototypical and could hurt his draft stock, but he has adjusted well to the physical aspect of the game as he’s rarely outmuscled for the puck. Has a very heavy shot with good accuracy. The skills that make him a dangerous goal scorer make him an effective defender as he is very active, applying constant pressure on the puck carrier. Has great pursuit of the play has he always takes the best angle towards the puck. Excels in the faceoff dot, making swift and precise movements to the puck.

Gersich is the nephew of US Hockey Hall of Famer Neal Broten. Before signing with North Dakota, Gersich was one of the most sought after college recruits and should be highly coveted prospect for the 2014 NHL Draft.
